These days kids spend more time on the tablets than their TV screens. So, the PBS in order to cater the interest of the kids has decided to bring their own tablet so that kids can enjoy PBS entertainment whenever they want.
The Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) is an American broadcaster has revealed its plan to bring its new tablet which is specially designed for kids. This new tablet is their own branded tablet which is called as Playtime Pad. This tablet which is produced by Ematic will come preloaded with PBS Kids games, videos clips, music videos and more and also suite of mobile applications such as PBS Kids Scratch Jr, PBS Parents Play and learn PBS Kids video.
Moreover, there are over 25 games installed on this tablet which includes a “Paint Box” app for coloring along with 120 video clips, music videos, and songs.

Parents will be happy to know that they can control this device through Parental controls and block the videos, games and apps which they don’t want their kids to use . Not only this, you will be able to set the time limit for the tablet usage. The tablet also provides access to over a million apps and games that are available in Google Play Store.
This 16 GB version of the tablet comes at a nominal price i.e. $79.99.The device is not updated with new content automatically but new content is delivered into the PBS apps and these apps are available on another platform such as Android and iOS.
The biggest selling point of the tablet is that tablet is customized for younger kids and pre-schoolers with colorful wallpapers and with the durable design for proper handgrips on both sides.
When PBS was asked that why it wants to come up with its own branded hardware then they explained that they want to grab the interest of the today’s multi-screen generation and also meeting the parents demand educational content.

He also added that many parents are looking for kid-friendly devices which help their kids in learning. So, partnering with Ematic to offer their content on Playtime Pad was really helpful and innovative for them because it provides another medium where children can engage with PBS KIDS entertainment.
