Barnes and Noble are back in the market with their new tablet and their own brand. Yes! we know you might be thinking that Barnes and Noble stopped making their own tablets in 2013 but they, later on, established a relationship with Samsung to rebrand their devices.

The Samsung Nook tablets have been sold in all 600 bookselling locations since last three years. But Samsung is all ready to bring their control back over the hardware part by designing their own devices. Now it seems that largest bookseller will release its NOOK 7 soon, as the device just passed the FCC.

B&N just developed a new seven-inch its own brand tablet and it is further said to compete with the $50 Amazon Fire.

Here is the specification of the hardware that is available with us so far:

Nook 7 Specs

  • It is equipped with MediaTek MediaTek MT8163 quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor having Mali-T720 MP2 graphics.
  • It has 3000, 11.1 Wh mAh battery
  • It supports 802.11a/b/g/n dual-band WiFi
  • It also has a Bluetooth 4.0
  • Rear and front cameras are also present
  • Mono speaker and 3.5 mm Headset jack are available
  • It has micro USB port
  • MicroSD card slot for storage

The new tablet may have NOOK logo but it’s is manufactured by a Chinese company known as Shenzhen Jingwah Information Technology Co., Ltd.

This new Nook tablet will provide access to the Google Play store and other apps, which features B&N NOOK software for purchasing and reading eBooks magazines and periodicals, as it had shut down its own app store this year. But Nook support is still available for all the Nook devices.Existing Nook users will be well aware but those new to Nook needs to create the Nook account and for further details they can head to www Nook Com Account.

Google Play Store

The only reason is to see for B&N to settle on their hardware decision is Samsung doesn’t make cheap tablets and this might have forced the B& N, the nation’s largest bookseller to develop their tablet under their own brand. It seems to be a good move on the part of B&N part and this device is expected to hit the retailer’s shelves by next month or two.

Further, we don’t have the correct price and release date of the tablet as this information is not provided by the FCC-filing but it would be better to see the new tablet out for the coming holidays.
